KARACHI - Fire at Dalmia Shopping Mall Wednesday triggered panic among hundreds of people. Scores of shopkeepers and customers, including women and children, fell unconscious.
No causality was reported as rescuers and lawmen reached the spot on time. But the fire partially affected one of the shops.
Police fired shots into air to foil miscreants’ attempt to loot. Chief Fire Officer Ehtaishamud Din told The Nation there were some cosmetic arrangements to extinguish the blaze.   Karachi Administrator Saqib Soomro visited the site and directed authorities to establish fire safety system in all buildings.  He cited short-circuit as reason for the fire.
