ISLAMABAD : Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications on Wednesday decided to introduce e-health, e-learning, e-commerce and e-agriculture services in telecentres established to facilitate people of far flung areas.

The decision was taken in a meeting which was chaired by Minister of State for IT & Telecom, Ms. Anusha Rahman here. The telecentres, in addition, will also house biometric verification of SIM cards, Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC), birth and death registration and computer training for the youth. The meeting observed that telecentres would create employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

Secretary IT, Akhlaq Tarar, Chairman National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), Tariq Malik and senior officials of Universal Service Fund (USF) also attended the meeting to discuss implementation of telecentre project.
