CTP prepares Muharram Traffic plan

Rawalpindi -  In order to ensure security of mourners and Muharram processions during Muharram-ul-Harram, City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi on Thursday issued a comprehensive traffic plan. According to the plan, there will be complete ban on parking of any vehicle and handcart on the route of procession.
City Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Shoaib Khurram Janbaz while issuing the traffic plan at Traffic Headquarters here said that over 1100 traffic wardens, senior traffic wardens under the supervision of inspectors and DSPs would perform their duties in the district during Muharram.
The CTO informed that 447 processions and 1916 Majalis would be held in Rawalpindi district during Muharram-ul-Harram.
The CTO said that Traffic wardens have been directed to especially check vehicles, motorcycles with suspicious persons, without number plate or proper number plate vehicles, tinted glass vehicles and vehicles moving in the city with revolving light. “Emergency squads will also be appointed to maintain the flow of traffic in the city,” he added.
“The City Traffic Police have prepared a traffic plan for Muharram-ul-Harram to facilitate the citizens in the town,” he added.
The CTO directed the officials to ensure parking at the distance of 200  meters from the route of the mourning processions and Imam Bargahs.
He said the Wardens have been directed to remove all kind of encroachments from the routes of processions besides keeping a vigil on suspected persons and things. “Strict disciplinary action will be taken against the delinquent officials,” the CTO added.
Shoaib Khurram Janbaz informed that traffic load would be provided alternate routes during mourning processions and diversion would be available at various points for the motorists.
The Citizens can call at City Traffic Police Helpline 1915 to know about the traffic situation on the roads. An emergency control room will also be established to cope with any emergency.
