Islamabad - Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Qamar Zaman Chaudhry on Thursday taken cognizance of a complaint regarding procurement of elevators for the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Project.

The Chairman NAB also directed to carry out a through inquiry in the tendering process of procurement of the elevators in the light of the laid down rules and procurement procedures.

It has been alleged in the complaint that low quality elevators have been procured at an exorbitant price and against Pakistan the Engineering Council (PEC) criteria.

The Chairman directed the concerned Division of NAB to inquire into the matter and ensure that no national funds go waste in the project.

The project came under severe criticism from various quarters since its inception and people have questioned the efficacy of the project.

The project was earlier to be completed on 25th December but due to the protests by PTI and PAT and some technical reasons it would now be completed on January 30 next year.
