Islamabad - Dispelling the impression of any difference with Pakistan Awami Tehreek, President Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has disclosed that Dr. Tahirul Qadri had called off Dharna after consultation with them.
Talking to media after meeting with former interior minister Rehman Malik at his residence on Thursday, Shujaat Hussain said that he saw no mid-term elections in the country adding that the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) government would unlikely to complete its mandated constitutional term of five years.
To another question, Ch. Shujaat rejected the notion that there was any ‘London plan.’ London plan is referred to a meeting between Imran Khan and Dr Qadri in London before the start of their respective marches on Islamabad back in August.
To a question about Model Town incident, Ch. Shujaat questioned the efficacy of such a democracy where an FIR against killing of 15 people couldn’t be registered.
Replying to media persons, questions, Rehman Malik said that in his view the prevailing political situation in the country was heading for mid-term polls. He was quick to add that his party, however, wanted to see the incumbent government complete its constitutional term.
He advised the PML-N ministers to bring decency in their remarks and statements, as the irresponsible and provocative statements coming from their side were just adding to the problems of the government.
To another question, he said that the charges of rigging in polls should be properly probed into adding that if rigging is proved then the government has no right to rule the country and they must go home.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has already announced in categorical terms that the government would lose its justification if rigging is proved, he underscored.
Rehman Malik urged the PTI’s chairman Imran Khan to take lead from Dr Tahirul Qadri and end his Islamabad sit-in. He said that calling off the sit-in would be in the interest of the country, adding that Dr Qadri had taken the decision to end sit-in after due consideration.
He also urged the government to release the arrested workers of PAT and PTI immediately.
