LAHORE - Youm-e-Ashur is being observed today with reverence and religious fervour to pay tributes to Imam Hussain ibn Ali and his family and companions for their supreme sacrifices in 61st Islamic year.
Every year, this day is observed on 10th of Muharram to commemorate the glorious sacrifices rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain at Karbala to uphold the truth.
Main procession of Zuljinah will be taken out from Nisar Haveli, inside Mochi Gate. Thousands of mourners will accompany the procession which after passing through the traditional route will end at Imambargah Karbale Gamey Shah in the evening.
Majlise Shame Ghareeban will be held in which noted different scholars will highlight the importance of the sacrifice of the younger grandson of Holy Prophet (PBUH) and his companions.
Mobile service will remain blocked from 8am to 10pm across Punjab. A ban has also been put on the pillion riding throughout the province where Ashura processions will be held.
Taziya, Alam and all other processions from all over the city will join the main procession. Security has been put on high alert in all parts of country and thousands of police officials have been deployed for security of Youm-e-Ashura processions.
Medical camps have been set up on the route of procession while people will be provided food and water voluntarily.
Muslims of all sects pay great reverence to the martyrdom of Imam Hussain.
