AJK business community wants COAS to stay

MIRPUR (AJK) - Continuation of the incumbent COAS in service for an indefinite period is imperative to the national interest at this crucial juncture, AJK business community opined.

Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajran (Ittehad Group) Mirpur President Ch Mahmood Hussain vehemently suggested the government to grant extension in service of Army Chief Gen Raheel Shareef.

Talking to media men, he said that in view of the prevailing extraordinary situation, Pakistan is faced with multifarious challenges both at internal and external fronts. "Grant of due extension in the service of the Army Chief is need of the hour in the greatest interests of the nation and country - especially at a time when war against terrorism is nearing its logical end under the dynamic leadership of Gen Raheel Shareef," he pointed out.

"The valiant armed forces, through operation Zarb-e-Azb, has almost purged the country of the menace of terrorism by rendering supreme sacrifices," he underscored, adding that the armed forces are fully prepare to frustrate any aggression across the LoC.

He highlighted that after having been utterly sick and perplexed of the current uprising in the held valley, India has adopted an aggressive posture in the region by bringing its forces to the border besides violating the ceasefire through frequently.

He suggested that at this crucial juncture, Gen Raheel Shareef should be requested to stay on for some time as mid-stream change of top military commanders is reportedly not advisable by some war strategists.
