MIRPUR - National Events Organizing Committee is set to celebrate the 69th founding day of the AJK government with renewal of the pledge to continue Kashmir's freedom struggle until it is resolved as per Kashmiris' aspirations.

According to official sources, ceremonies in connection with the founding day will be held at Municipal Corporation Lawn and Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) city campus here today (Monday).

"The day is observed every year to celebrate the founding anniversary of AJK government formed about 69 years ago on October 24, 1947 after the territory was liberated from the clutches of Indian-backed Dogra rule," MUST Registrar Prof Mirza Waris Jiraal said while unveiling schedule of the daylong anniversary programs.

Talking to media here on Sunday, Prof Waris said that a grand function will be held at the MUST city campus at 9am where speakers including seasoned academicians and students of the varsity will highlight significance of the day in backdrop of the Kashmiris' struggle for freedom dates back 69 years.

He informed that such ceremonies will also be held in all 10 districts of the state under the auspices of the university.

The second grand flag-hoisting ceremony to mark the anniversary will be held at Mirpur Municipal Corporation Lawn at 9am which would be attended by the people from all walks of life.
