Govt ‘policies’ strengthened democracy, economy: Hamid

SIALKOT - Sagacious policies of the PML-N government have not only strengthened democracy in the country but have also put the economy on the path to progress and stability, Federal Minister for Law and Climate Change Zahid Hamid said.

Addressing a big public gathering after inaugurating a gas supply project in Chaaher Bajwa-Bhaagowal and Sabokay-Phalora villages here, he termed the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) a gateway to prosperity for Pakistan, adding the mega project would bring about an economic revolution, and would generate massive employment opportunities.

"Besides making all-out efforts to raise living standard of the common man by providing basic facilities to the masses at their doorsteps, the N government is also committed to fulfil all the promises regarding elimination of power outages," Mr Zahid claimed, expressing his optimism that the PML-N would come into power again by winning next general elections in 2018.

He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has won hearts of the people of Sialkot by inaugurating Sialkot-Lahore Motorway. He said that that the government is setting up network of roads and motorways across the country to provide the people better means of transportation.

PML-N Overseas Youth Wing President Ali Zahid Khan said that the government has completed record welfare and development projects across the country under the dynamic leadership of Premier Nawaz Sharif.

Earlier, the federal minister held an open court at PML-N House Pasrur where he listened to the public problems and issued orders for their resolution.

STAGNANT SEWAGE TESTS

STUDENTS' PATIENCE

Govt Girls Elementary School Mitraanwali has been surrounded by the stagnant sewerage leaving no way for the students and teachers to reach the school safely.

Hundreds of girls have to pass the test of passing through the stagnant sewerage for reaching school and returning homes. The students said that it had become a routine for them. They said that minor students often fell into the mud and sewerage to reach school or going back home.

Parents of the students said that Daska Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) and Education Department were testing the patience of the students and their teachers by turning a blind eye to the issue. They said that the nasty situation was repeatedly brought to the notice of the officials concerned but to no avail.

The people have strongly protested against the alleged slackness and negligence of the department and TMA in this regard. The protesting people urged Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Gujranwala Commissioner M Asif and DCO Asif Tufail to take serious note of the situation
