No doubt Imran Khan has a charismatic personality but he is quite different from Zulifqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto. He came out as a challenger to the status quo on October 30, 2011, with the claim that people, instead of voting for the candidate, will vote for their party’s symbol and manifesto. Five years have passed since then, his party (PTI) has been ruling in KPK for the past three and half years.

Imran Khan, instead of performing in the provincial government spent a long period in poking others.

Recently, in his Raiwind march last month, he had announced putting up ‘dharna plus’ in the capital.

Mr Khan should realise the ground reality that it is nearly impossible to conduct and organise crystal clear elections like European countries in a developing country like Pakistan. He will have to perform in the existing election system.

The reorganisation of the party, performance of the provincial government, awareness of voters at grassroots level will prove beneficial for Imran Khan.

In short, the victory of 1992 World Cup, establishment of Shaukat Khanum Hospital and NUML University will not be “sellable” in the general elections of 2018.
