ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be responsible if some ‘third force’ intervened as a result of his party’s plan to lockdown the federal capital.

Talking to media persons after party meeting regarding the preparations for the November 2 protest here at his residence, Imran reaffirmed his resolve to continue with his plan and warned the rulers against use of force as such a move would cost the PML-N government dearly.

“Only one person (Nawaz Sharif) will be responsible if democracy is derailed and a ‘third force’ intervenes,” he said as according to him the rulers have left them with no choice but to come on streets as they have high-jacked the whole system.

To a question he explained that they have all respect for the apex court, which according to him, would continue with its legal course while their protest would pressure the PM to step down as he was ‘caught red-handed’ in Panama Papers revelations ‘doing corruption’.

Imran Khan said that evidences are present against PM Nawaz in Panama leaks case therefore he should present himself for accountability.

He reiterated that the opposition is against the rally because they themselves are corrupt and fear that they will also be caught if Nawaz Sharif is found responsible.

PTI chairman grilled the government for maligning the country’s army as the ruling party was propagating the same narrative which the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was spreading against the Pakistan Army.

“Modi says at every forum that Pakistan Army is responsible for terrorism, and this is the same narrative which ruling party is propagating through its media cell. That was the reason the rulers have allegedly leaked information of high-level security meeting to (Dawn staffer) Cyril Almeida,” he claimed.

Imran alleged that it was the prime minister and his party’s media cell which was behind the move to malign the then ISI chief following life attempt on prominent journalist Hamid Mir in Karachi city.

“They are now giving an impression that PTI is holding the protest with Army’s support and that ‘non-state actors’ will be there in the sit-in,” Khan said.

“Either Nawaz Sharif should present himself for accountability or resign, it’s very simple… If the FBR and the NAB don’t have the powers to hold the powerful accountable then what’s the point of having these institutions?” he remarked.

“Our protest is against these dysfunctional state institutions and the corrupt prime minister. Whichever opposition party is opposing the protest is effectively supporting Nawaz Sharif because they are themselves corrupt,” he said referring to PPP without naming it.

“To divert attention from Panama, Nawaz Sharif will go to any extent,” he said.

Earlier in the party meeting, Imran Khan decided to hold a ‘warm-up’ rally in Islamabad on Oct 31 ahead of their Nov 2 protest.

The PTI chief will hold a whirlwind tour of 16 different areas of the capital on October 29 to activate the workers and spread awareness in the public. He will lead a car and motorcycle rally on that day and visit the reception camps.

The tour will begin from Bhara Kahu at 2pm and conclude at Sector-I/8 at 7:30pm. The interval between visiting the camps will be of nearly 15-20 minutes.

Imran Khan is also likely to visit Pind Bagwal, Tameer and Chrah, Taramri Rawal Dam Chowk, Melody Sitara Market, G-8, G-9, G-10, G-11, Jaffar Chowk, I-9 and I-10 sectors. He will also address the workers there regarding November 2 lockdown.

Later on, the PTI chairman addressed a gathering in Dera Ismail Khan and said let it be known that if in case Punjab police tried to stop the masses from participating in Nov 2 sit-in, they will have to pay the price for it.

He said that a notable politician from Dera Ismail Khan is taking sides with Nawaz Sharif and the cost of his conscience is diesel. Imran also alleged that Zardari is also on Nawaz Sharif’s side and he will not accept the current premier in any case.
