ISLAMABAD -  Pakistan People’s Party yesterday called Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan a ‘suicide bomber’ who was bent upon locking down Islamabad with “no agenda.”

Addressing a news conference here, PPP Senator Saeed Ghani said Imran Khan was not ready to listen to anyone. He claimed both Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan were supporters of jihadis (holy warriors) and were now involved in mudslinging.

Imran Khan is set to storm the federal capital on November 2 to ‘force’ PM Sharif to present himself for accountability or quit.

Yesterday Imran Khan said all his struggle was not meant for a third force to step in. However, he said Nawaz Sharif will be responsible for any threat to democracy.

He said Nawaz Sharif was being named in Panama leaks so he should either present himself for search or accountability regardless of the fact that the case hearing will pursue in Supreme Court.

Imran Khan also claimed that all the opposition parties who were against the sit-ins were actually corrupt and knows it will be “their turn after Nawaz Sharif’s arrest.” He alleged that PPP co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari was also on Nawaz Sharif’s side.

Later yesterday, opposition leader Khurshid Shah underlined that the PPP will protect democracy only if the government accepted the four proposals of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Shah said they will not support the government if they only want to pass the November 2 day.

“I fear that the government will not be able to complete its term till 2018,” he added. He alleged Imran Khan was the biggest supporter of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

At the news conference - along with Nazir Dhoki and Syed Wasif - Senator Saeed Ghani said due to the wrong policies of Imran Khan, Prime Minister Sharif had become an ‘ISO certified PM.’ “I think Imran Khan should first seek a bail against warrants issued for his 2014 sit-in,” he said.

Asked if there was a threat to democracy, he said: “We know Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif will both fly out.”

The lawmaker said Imran Khan had no justification for the Islamabad siege. “He wants a solo flight. He is against consulting any party. What will he do if the PM does not go even after his rally,” he questioned.

He said the government should accept four-point demands put forward by Bilawal to defuse the current political crisis created by the PTI.

Ghani said that Imran Khan was wrong in saying he will not be responsible if democracy was affected by his protest and siege of Islamabad. “Nawaz Sharif became the Prime Minister after an election full of alleged regularities and rigging incidents but Imran Khan provided him legitimacy by his antics of sit-ins,” he added.

The Senator said decisions were taken with consensus in politics and the entire opposition had taken notice of Panama papers and adopted legislation for investigation but “Imran Khan wants all opposition parties to follow his decisions.”

He said Imran Khan lacked political maturity and believed that PTI was the only party of opposition.

Ghani said Imran Khan had every right to protest but “siege of Islamabad and for that matter any city is not right.”

He said Imran Khan had no strategy “if his adventure goes wrong” and does not achieve desired result.

Senator Ghani said government will be at loss if it arrested Imran Khan. “Sit-in and siege of Islamabad will not be sustainable and Imran Khan will not succeed in his adventure,” he added.
