LAHORE - Head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman met Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here yesterday and discussed with him matters of mutual interest and current political situation.
Both the leaders termed announcement to lockdown Islamabad as undemocratic and unconstitutional, according to an official handout.
Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that announcement to lockdown Islamabad was an open enmity to Pakistan and its 180 million people.
He believed that after acceptance of Opposition’s demand that Supreme Court should hear the Panama case, there was no political and moral justification to protest on roads.
Fazl also said that continuing protests after starting of hearing in the court was meant to pressurise the Supreme Court to get the decision of their own will. He said that Imran Khan should not take revenge of his repeated political defeats from the people.
He said that no conscious Pakistani will support such undemocratic and unconstitutional steps.
Fazl asked Imran Khan to have pity on the nation and display positive democratic attitude.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that those intending to lockdown Islamabad wanted to stop the journey of speedy progress.
He said that those indulging in negative politics were out to snatch the joys of 180 million people by closing CPEC. “These defeated elements are afraid of end to their politics with the completion of speedy development projects”, he added. Shahbaz Sharif said that those indulging in the politics of chaos by lockdown of Islamabad wanted to defame Pakistan through their show but the enemies of development had been exposed to conscious Pakistani people and nation will not become a part of any such show.
Federal Minister Akram Khan Durrani and Amir Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Punjab Atiq-ur-Rehman were also present on the occasion.
