ISLAMABAD - The UBL enjoy comfortable position against Islamabad in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2016-16 Fourth Round Poll-A match played here at Diamond Ground on Sunday.

UBL finished day-2 at 270 for the loss of 6 wickets, requiring further 6-run to equal Islamabad first innings total with 4 wickets still in hand. Test discarded Shan Masood scored 93 with the help of 11 fours. Akbar-ur-Rehman also contributed 80 valuable runs. Skipper Zohaib Ahmed took 2 for 65. It is worth mentioning here that Islamabad gave debut to 3 youngsters in the all-important fixture, which is a great example to follow for others. Earlier, winning the toss Zohaib decided to bat first as Islamabad were all out for 275 in 88overs. Shahid Yousaf made 105 with the help of 13 fours and 1 six, M Naqash 42 and Sarmad Bhatti 33. Mir Hamza captured 5 for 55, while Hammad Azam and Sameen Gul shared 2 wickets each conceding 28 and 35 runs respectively.

In Pool-B match played here at Pindi Stadium on Sunday, Rawalpindi looked in all sorts of bother against PIA as they finished day-2 at 32 without loss in their second innings still requiring another 46 runs to avoid innings defeat. Earlier, PIA were all out for 276 in 90.2 overs and took vital 78 runs first innings lead. Shahryar Ghani made 97 and Anwar Ali 75. M Talha took 5 for 83, Sohail Tanveer 2 for 13 and Atta Ullah also chipped in with 2 for 59. Rawalpindi were all out for 198 in their first innings. Taimoor Khan made 90. Salman Saeed, Aizaz Cheema and Anwar Ali took 3 wickets each.
