SIALKOT -  There is severe shortage of water in River Chenab as flow of water reduced to only 9,103 cusecs at Head Marala-Sialkot on Sunday.

In River Tavi, water level is only 934 cusecs while in River Jammu, it is 1,343 cusecs.

Sialkot DCO Dr Asif Tufail said that both main canals Bambaanwala-Ravi-Baidian (BRB) Canal and Marala-Ravi-Link (MR-Link) Canal have been lying closed due to water shortage here.

The irrigation department officials feared that the water shortage in River Chenab and closer of two canals - MR-Link Canal and Bambaanwala-Ravi-Baidian Canal - could badly affect sowing of the seasonal crops over thousands of acres of lands along the belt and banks of the rivers and these canals.
