SWAT - As many as 21 militants surrendered and five terrorists including four commanders and a would-be suicide bomber were apprehended during the ongoing military operation here on Wednesday. According to details, the security forces nabbed a prominent militant commander Nasim alias Abu Khiraj from tehsil Matta. Abu Khiraj was stated to be associated with Jaish-e-Mohammad in the past and was reportedly wanted to police in a bank dacoity as well. Another commander Sadiq alias Abuzar was also apprehended from somewhere in Nowshera district the other day. Hailing from tehsil Charbagh, Sadiq was arrested when he was trying to escape from the scene along with his three other companions. He was also wanted in various cases. In another development, two other militant commanders identified as Fazl-e-Haq and Rasool Khan were also netted in Charbagh area. Moreover, the security forces on a tip-off arrested a would-be suicide bomber Ihsanullah from Kanju area. Meanwhile, the security forces demolished the houses of two suspected militants in Sangota Gharai area, besides defusing two remote-controlled bombs planted along the roadside in the same locality. The local people of Damghar area of tehsil Kabal have also formed a lashkar against the extremists. On the other hand, thousands of devotees of Syed Pir Baba hailing from various parts of the country thronged his mausoleum, which was reopened after six months. Khateeb at the mausoleum mosque, Maulana Haroonur Rasheed, said that the mausoleum was reopened as the situation was returning to normalcy. It is worth mentioning here that militants closed down the mausoleum after getting control of district Buner. However, after a successful operation by the security forces, the mausoleum has been reopened. In another development, cinemas in Swat were reopened. These movie houses were closed down after surfacing of militants in the area some three years back.
