LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that service to humanity is the best form of worship and the present government has taken up this mission. Addressing PML (N) workers at Farm House, Raiwind on Eid, he said that no effort would be spared for the elimination of poverty and unemployment as well as prosperity of the country. He said that on the instructions of PML (N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif the biggest subsidy in the history of the country was given during Ramzan to provide of sasta atta, sugar and other essential items to the masses under the Ramzan Package. The Chief Minister said that national resources were looted mercilessly under the former government and Punjab Bank was robbed of nine billion rupees alone. However, he said, present government was utilising public money on the welfare of the masses. He said that a subsidy of more than eight billion rupees was given during Ramzan-ul-Mubarak on the supply of Sasta atta, sugar and other essential items and crores of poor people benefited from this programme. He said that no previous government gave such a massive subsidy for the benefit of poor masses during the last 63 years. He said that the present leadership is utilizing funds for the welfare of the poor masses. Shahbaz said that he had undertaken visits to every nook and corner of the province for supervising arrangements in Ramzan bazaars and ensuring availability of sasta atta and sugar to the poor. He said that free medicines as well as dialysis facility is being offered to the patients in the hospitals while air-conditioners have been installed in all hospitals of the province. He said that development projects worth billions of rupees are in progress across the province. The CM said that a comprehensive programme had been evolved for imparting various skills to the children of poor families so that they could achieve economic self-sufficiency as well as earn foreign exchange for the country. He said that elimination of cruelty and oppression from police stations, provision of prompt and inexpensive justice to the common man and national development and prosperity is his mission and he will make every effort for its achievement. He said that though a handful of elements obtained sasta atta and sugar for commercial purposes but Punjab government is considering various proposals for checking misappropriation of funds for continuing the process of help and assistance to the people. He said that workers are the strength of the party and their problems should be resolved on priority basis. He said that he will start a process of meetings with the party workers after Eid and open kutcheris will also be arranged. He congratulated the workers on Eid.
