ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani has expressed grave concern on the observations of Standing Committee of Religious Affairs of both Houses about the irregularities in the hiring process of buildings for Hujjaj during current Haj season in Saudi Arabia and directed Ministry of Religious Affairs to take stern action against the responsible officers/officials. According to a statement issued here on Thursday, Ministry of Religious Affairs has prepared a summery in this respect which would be presented personally by Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Hamid Kazmi to the Prime Minister to grant approval of taking disciplinary action against those officials who are involved in these irregularities. Hiring Review Committee, headed by the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs has also expressed grave concern and assured the concerned Standing Committees that action against those responsible of these irregularities would be taken according to law and regulations. Ministry of Religious Affairs has also expressed grave concern over the decision of General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia that during first 10 days of return flights, 50 per cent reduction has been made by GACA on PIA and other airlines. Due to additional expenditure for extended stay in Saudi Arabia, the Government of Pakistan appealed Saudi Government to review the decision as Hujjaj will face financial hardships due to extended stay, specially Pakistani Hujjaj who are already victims of natural calamity of devastating floods and would face extra burden due to overstay in Saudi Arabia.
