LAHORE - Provincial Minister for Education Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman has said that positive suggestions and reservations of teachers with regard to four years degree programme will be reviewed. He said that the students were very keen to take admission in four years degree course and up till now more than 33,000 students had purchased admission forms for this course. He said that government had great regard for teaches and would welcome their suggestions in this regard. He expressed these views during a meeting with the representatives of student unions and Usatiza Muttahida Muhaaz. The delegation was led by President Professors and Lecturers Association Dr Zahid. Secretary General PPLA Tanvir Shah and President Students Action Committee Zahirud Din Babar were also present on the occasion. The Minister said that the experiment of giving autonomy to colleges was successful which resulted in improving their performance. He said that this course was introduced in colleges under national education policy so that our students could get education of international standard and their degree could be recognized at internationally. Replying to a question, the Minister said that Commissioner had been appointed as Vice Chairman of Board of Governors so that he could chair the Board in absence of Chairman in order to timely dispose of important matters. He further said that laboratories would be set up in 26 colleges as per the requirement of the degree course and their financial needs would be fulfilled to avoid increase in fees.
