OKARA - A dacoit was killed in cross-firing with the police and two other died in separate road accidents here the other day. Sources told that a resident of 15/4L, 20-year-old Suddy Ahmad, son of Ramzan brought his father to bus stand to help him get on a bus. He was going back to his village when tanker, carrying milk, hit him near 11/4L. As a result he died instantly. In another accident near Mauza Darshan, a cyclist identified as Mohammad Imran, son of Mohammad Hanif was hit by a tractor OKS-1488 coming from the opposite direction, killing him instantly. The police registered a case of the incident.Meanwhile, a dacoit was killed while his accomplices manage to escape in a shootout with the police here the other day.A police party was on routine patrol near Sukh Pur locality where eight bandits, having blocked the road, were looting passers-by. Meanwhile the police van reached there without revolving light. The dacoits intercepted the van. When they saw the police they took their position and opened fire. In cross-firing an accused identified as Ejaz alias Lubhi sustained bullet wounds and was rushed to hospital where he disclosed the names of his accomplices as, Sajid alias Fakhri, Iqbal, resident of Parveen Abad, Azhar Bhatti, Dewan Mochi, Iqbal Wattoo, Mohammad Riaz and Imran alias Imrani. He, however, later succumbed to his injuries. The police have registered cases under Sections 302,353, 324, 427, 399, 402, 148, 149 and 13-20-65.Prize ceremony: The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab held a prize distribution ceremony regarding the Punjab Youth Festival 2012 in Government Sutlej High School. Addressing the ceremony MPA Yawar Zaman said that the Punjab government had provided an opportunity for the youths to show their abilities. He said that to encourage the players, certificates and cash prizes were being awarded to the position holders. On the occasion, Divisional Festival In-charge Ateequr Rehman and Director Tourism Sohail Anwar were also present. At the concluding session, Mr Zaman, who was the chief guest, distributed certificates and cash prizes to the position holders.
