At least 17 persons including two women were killed and nine others injured in different incidents of enmity and road mishaps occurred in different areas over the past 48 hours.

According to details, in Hafizabad five persons including two women were killed and five injured in four different incidents over the past 24 hours. According to police source, Kashif, a resident of Lahore along with his family was on the way to Faisalabad in his car. However, when he reached near Hinduaana on Motorway-III, he could not control his speeding car as a result of which the vehicle dashed in the rear of a truck proceeding before it. Resultantly Kashif and his wife Sajida died on the spot while his minor daughters - Fatima and Asima sustained serious injuries and were shifted to hospital by the Motorway police.

In another incident, a woman, said to be mother of three minor children, committed suicide by swallowing poisonous pills in Sajjada (Jaurianwala) village the other night.

According to police source, she had strained relation with her in-laws and following exchange of harsh words with her in-laws, she felt perturbed and disappointed and decided to put an end to her life by swallowing poisons pills. Her body was shifted to the city morgue for autopsy.

Allah Ditta (56) of Thatha Maan (Kassoki) died while his five family members landed in the hospital after taking stale food in their house. According to hospital source, Allah Ditta, Shazia, Fatima, Danish and Asif had taken stale meal in their house and were brought to the hospital where Allah Ditta died after few hours of medical treatment while other were progressing satisfactorily. Another Muhammad Hussain a worker of Kolo Tarar, employed in a factory in Silakot has died mysteriously last night. After post partum examination in Silakot hospital his body has been brought his native village Kolo Tarar. The motive of the offence could not be ascertained as yet.

In Kasur, old enmity claimed the life of a man and his son in village Dafto, in the remit of Mustafabad Police here the other day. The police registered a case without any arrest.

The incident occurred when Siraj and his son Fiaz were on the way back home from fields. In the meanwhile, his rival Sheir alias Sheri along with his five unidentified accomplices opened indiscriminate fire on them. Resultantly Siraj and his son died on the spot. The police suspected that old enmity might be the cause behind the incident.

In TOBA TEK SINGH, a farmer died due to snake bite in Chak 751/GB. Deceased Muhammad Shafi was asleep outside his house in the street when snake bite him as a result he died on Sunday morning.

The body was taken to Pirmahal Rural Health Centre where doctors confirmed that death was caused by snake bite. Similarly, a man died and three others injured in a head-on collision between a rickshaw and a motorcycle. The deceased identified as Usman, a resident of Chak 381/JB Kahlwan was on the way to Toba on a motorcycle when he reached near Toba on the link road a rickshaw suddenly collided with the bike. As a result Usman and three persons including the rickshaw driver Anwar and two passengers - Ashraf and Saeed were wounded. The injured were shifted to DHQ Hospital while Usman succumbed to wound on the spot.

Meanwhile, in MUZAFFARABAD at least six people were killed when a passenger jeep fell into Neelum River near Phalwai area here the other day. The passenger jeep was going to Tao Butt from Keil area of Neelum Valley.

The residents of the area recovered two dead bodies from the river while rescue operation was underway for the others. Meanwhile, eight wounded were shifted to Keil Hospital two of whom were reportedly in critical condition. According to residents of the area, the accident occurred due to dilapidated condition of the road. Meanwhile, Acting AJK PM Ch Yaseen expressed grief over the incident and directed the administration to treat the wounded free of cost. He also announced Rs150, 000 for each of the bereaved family.

Whereas in SHEIKHUPURA Aslam Masih, a resident of Gloria Colony, was electrocuted in his house. He was attempting to switch on an electric generator when suffered severe electric shocks and died on the spot. The Factory Area Police are looking into the matter.

In Daska, five armed accused shot dead a local trader Muhammad Sajjad (32) in his home over an old property dispute in Shahabpura locality. According to FIR, the trader was asleep in his home, when five armed accused including Abbas, Imdad, Rashid alias Rashidu (Mundeyki Goraya) and Shani Butt sprayed bullets at the house, killing the trader Sajjad on the spot. The police have registered a case.
