ISLAMABAD - Jehangir Anwer Khan, former federal secetary and renowned journalist passed away on Monday. After Asr prayers he was laid to rest at a graveyard in Raziabad on Monday evening. 

A large number of his admirers and friends were shocked to hear the news of his demise. Jehangir started his career as a film artiste. He played the role of hero in Punjabi film ‘Chan waey’ with all time legend melody queen Noor Jehan.

He served in the Ministry of Industries for many years. During ZA Bhutto’s era he served as Director General Public Relations for Federal Ministry of Information. He also worked as Joint Secretary for Provincial Cooperation. He was founder of National Film Development Corporation. After his retirement he remained connected with a media group that launched popular English newspaper Muslim as its Chief Executive. He also served as Resident Editor of daily The Nation in Islamabad. His son Shamyl Khan is a popular film and TV artiste. The qul of the deceased will be held at the family farmhouse in Raziabad on Wednesday (tomorrow) at 4:30pm.
