LAHORE - Unidentified swindlers robbed a 30-year-old passenger of his belongings at a bus stand in the Lorry Adda jurisdiction.

Police investigators say they believe the swindlers offered poisonous food to the victim at the bus stand and took away Rs 50,000 and a mobile phone from his pocket soon after the man fell unconscious.

A resident of Sahiwal district, Ahmad Ali told the police that he was waiting for a bus at the bus-stand when unidentified swindlers robbed him of his belonging including cash. The police have registered a case and are investigating with no arrest made yet.

In another incident, robbers forced their entry into a house located in the Shalimar police vicinity and snatched away cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 700,000. The duty police officer said that four robbers barged into the house of Muhammad Asif and took away cash and gold ornaments after holding the family members hostage at gunpoint.

Killed: A 25-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he rammed into the footpath on the Jail Road, police said on Monday. Police said that the man, identified as Mesam, died on the spot as his bike slipped and rammed into the footpath during the rain. Further investigation is underway.

 Drug free Lahore vowed:

A meeting of the Lahore Drug Free City Project was held at office of the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) on Monday. SSP (Internal Accountability Division) Sohail Sukhera presided over the meeting while Brig Mahmood of Anti-Narcotics Force and other officers were also present on this occasion.

The meeting was informed that special teams of police and ANF recovered 1600-kg Chars and 30-kg heroin from over 200 drugs pushers during the current year.  The officers vowed to make Lahore a drug free city by adopting aggressive policy.
