Federal Minister for Commerce, Engr Khurram Dastagir Khan on Wednesday directed for updating on modern lines the record of National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) to ensure transparency and build its better image. He also assured that NICL's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) would be appointed at the earliest and purely on merit for making it as a very effective and successful organisation of 21st century.

The Minister was presiding over a meeting of NICL's Board of Directors here at the NICL Building. Chairman of NICL Board, Ameen Nadeem Karamat led the Board members. The Minister was briefed about NICL's achievements and its future plans, which were appreciated by him. Engr. Khurram Dastagir Khan directed the NICL management to upgrade the company's accounts as soon as possible and also ensure transparency so that this national insurance company could win confidence of public and private organisations/institutions. He asked them that in the light of difficulties faced in the past, structural reforms should be introduced in the company to enhance its image and performance.

That, a detailed audit of last five years' accounts also be got done so that the company affairs be updated. The Minister emphasized that for increasing its business the NICL should take benefit from the mega projects launched or in the pipe line. NICL can also benefit a lot from CPEC, he added.
