President rejects PPP claims of his involvement in politics

ISLAMABAD - The spokesman of the Presidency has said that President Mamnoon Hussain has no political ambitions, rejecting allegations levelled by PPP about his holding political meetings.
“The president held a meeting in Islamabad with a PML-N delegation from Sindh in his personal capacity,” the spokesman said in an official statement. He rejected the notion that president may lead the election campaign for local government elections in Sindh.
The Nation published a news report the other day that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had objected to president’s participation in a meeting of ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz despite a ban on his taking part in political activities by the court.
Before becoming president, Mamnoon Hussain had an active political role in Sindh and enjoyed grass-root ties with workers, which was why the workers requested for a meeting which the president accepted, the spokesman clarified.
