Islamabad - Kohsar police have arrested two sons of Ghazi Abdul Rasheed, the deceased cleric of Lal Masjid , and one of their friends on the charges of possessing a military commando uniform and a pistol.

The two brothers, Haris and Haroon along with their friend Asif were moving in F-6 sector of the capital when a joint team of police and Rangers, who were patrolling the area on late Tuesday night, intercepted their car and recovered a military commando uniform and a pistol, the police said. “An army uniform and a pistol were seized from their vehicle. A first information report (FIR) was lodged against the three for possessing the uniform and a weapon at Kohsar police station under sections 170, 171, 188 and 13/20/65 of the PPC,” SHO Kohsar police station Abdur Rehman, who is also investigating the case, told The Nation. “The court has granted one-day remand of the accused and the suspects are being questioned further,” he said. He said the accused have submitted licence of the pistol which has been sent for verification.

Lal Masjid’s cleric Maulana Abdul Rashid Ghazi was killed in an operation by the security forces at Jamia Hafsa in 2007. A large number of other people including seminary students and military troops were also killed in the operation.

Meanwhile, ICT administration have declared high alert in the city hospitals to meet any emergency situation on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha being celebrated tomorrow (Friday). “It is requested that all the hospitals in Islamabad may be kept at high level alert from 24th to 27th September so that any untoward situation may be avoided,” said a letter issued by district magistrate ICT to the high-ups of PIMS, FGHS, Capital Hospital and District Health Officer Islamabad on September 23, 2015.

Furthermore, Islamabad police have arrested 24 outlaws from various areas of the city and recovered stolen car, bike, mobile phone, laptop, 4,790 kilograms hashish, 35 litres of wine, weapons and stolen valuable from their possession, a police spokesman said yesterday.

He said that Secretariat police arrested two drug pushers Kamran Gul and Abdul Baseer and recovered 3.670 kilograms hashish and five litres of wine from their possession. Golra police arrested two accused Muhammad Imran and Muhammad Irfan involved in theft and recovered two stolen laptops from their possession. Tarnol police arrested a drug-pusher Mukhtar and recovered 1.240 kilograms hashish from him. Industrial Area police arrested a bike-lifter Shah Khawar and recovered stolen bike from him. Sabzi Mandi police arrested two accused Mashad and Zameer Ahmed and recovered snatched mobile phone and one 30-bore illicit pistol along with ammunition from their possession. Nilor police arrested accused Asif and recovered one 30-bore illicit pistol along with ammunition from him. Police also recovered a stolen car from the possession of one Sarfraz Khan. Shalimar police arrested a bootlegger Ashar Nobel Maish and recovered 30 litres of wine from him. Police also recovered one 9mm pistol along with ammunition from the possession of arrested accused Basir Ahmed. Cases have been registered against the accused and further investigation is under way.
