MULTAN- To prevent air crashes, the Multan Solid Waste Management Company (MSWMC) launched on Friday a special operation to clear the adjoining areas of Multan Airport of remains of animals and trash to minimize the movement of birds in these vicinities.

The company removed the piles of garbage and animal remains with the help of heavy machinery from Garden Town, Qasim Bela, Askariya Colony and Sher Shah Road. A company spokesman said that the trash containers and bins placed in these areas were also covered.

He further revealed that six special teams had been constituted on a special direction of company Chairman Ahmad Shahryar to keep Cantonment area clean. He added that the teams were permanent and they would impart training to the sanitary workers of Cantonment Board beside supplementing the work force of the board. He disclosed that the Civil Aviation Authority had extended a request to the company on which the company decided to extend all out support to the CAA for making the airport adjoining areas clean.
