PESS seeks solution to ex-troops’ woes

MANDI BAHAUDDIN-A Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society (PESS) delegation apprised District Armed Services Board (DASB) Gujrat Deputy Director Imtiaz of the problems faced by ex-servicemen and the families of martyrs.
The delegation told the DASB deputy director that according to Defense Ministry directions, a DASB team was required to attend DASB Camp Office Mandi Bahauddin once a week but for some months this was not being done regularly. As a result, they said the ex-servicemen and the widows coming to the camp office go back after waiting, finding no one to listen their requests. He took cognizance of the problem and said that the problem was due to the deficiency of the staff. He said he had taken up the case with higher authorities to post two more clerks for placing them at DASB Camp Office M B Din permanently.
The delegation also stressed a need for appointing District Liaison Officer and Welfare Coordination Officer for Mandi Bahauddin for carrying out welfare activities smoothly and efficiently. The delegation said that for the last many years no DASB meeting was held. They asked the DASB chief to arrange DASB meetings on monthly or quarterly basis so that problems of serving and former soldiers concerning district administration could be solved quickly. The DASB chief appreciated efforts of PESS and assured the delegation of taking steps to resolve the problems of ex-servicemen of Mandi Bahauddin.
