PESHAWAR - Special police units and bomb disposal squad thwarted a major sabotage bid by defusing a 4 kilogram explosive device in Bacha Khan Square on Friday and arrested an alleged terrorist from the site.

Sources said that the arrested person identified as Ashiq Hussain, son of Fazal Hussain was allegedly planting explosive device near a flyover at Bacha Khan Square.

Police arrested the accused person while another accomplice escaped from the scene. The escaped person has been identified as Dilawar Khan, son of Sabir Khan, resident of Suffed Derai Peshawar. 

Bomb disposal squad rushed to the site and defused the bomb. Police shifted the accused person to an unknown location for further interrogation. 

CTD has intensified its crackdown against miscreants and arrested several high profile terrorists in the last few months.

Two days ago a notorious target killer involved in killing of 32 persons was arrested in Peshawar who confessed his involvement in terrorist activities.
