SC orders to shift Anwar Majeed to jail from hospital

Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday has directed that Omni Group chairman Anwar Majeed be shifted to jail from the hospital.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Saqib Nisar reviewed the medical reports of Anwar Majeed and his son Abdul Ghani Majeed.

As the top court heard the money laundering case, the additional attorney general submitted the medical reports of Majeed and his son, who have been arrested for involvement in the case, before the bench.

On September 17, the SC heard Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) petition regarding medical treatment being given to Anwar and his son, then the court under the surgeon general of Pakistan formed a committee for the medical examination of the medical examination of the accused.

Justice Saqib remarked that the Anwar Majeed's counsel should inform the court if his client wants to get his surgery done or not? If Anwar Majeed wants to get his surgery done then he should otherwise he should be shifted to jail, he further added.

Justice Ahsan then remarked, "Anwar Majeed is not getting an open heart surgery right now as he is waiting for the doctor's directives."

Anwar Majeed is not an official guest, shift him to the jail. If Anwar Majeed feels sick then we will get his heart surgery done," CJP stated. 

Omni Group counsel Shahid Hamid told the court Anwar Majeed has low haemoglobin and needs to get a haemorrhoid surgery done." 

On this, the chief justice said, "We do not have a conflict with you scheduled surgeries and you may go ahead and get his surgery done but first shift both of them to jail.
