DC Attock directs against unnecessarily referring emergency cases to Rawalpindi hospitals

ATTOCK - Deputy Commissioner Attock Imran Hamid Sheikh has directed health authorities not to refer all emergency cases unnecessarily to hospitals in Rawalpindi and has warned that strict action will be taken against the doctors and paramedics involved in this practice. He said this while chairing a meeting. CEO Health Dr Jawad Elahi and District Emergency Officer Kamran Rashid were present on the occasion. DC Attock said that government wanted to provide maximum health facilities to the masses nearest to their door steps and referring ailing community to other hospitals is beyond comprehension. He said that referral cases will be analysed on weekly basis and the reason for referring patients to hospitals in Rawalpindi will be checked in depth and if any referral case was found illogical, the concerned doctor and other relevant staff will be penalised. He said that it was a good omen that during the last three months, referral cases have been controlled and now patients are being provided facilities within the hospitals of the district.  Imran Hamid Sheikh said that efforts are being made to ensure maximum health facilities in district and tehsil headquarters hospitals and basic and rural health centers. 

Meanwhile, DC Attock while presiding another meeting issued directions to Deputy Director Social Welfare to go to the houses of those who committed suicide by using poisonous pills and compile a data in this context. DC said that data of those persons who committed suicide must be compiled and the bereaved family be asked to inform the authorities about those who supply poisonous pills so that action under the rules must be taken against them.
