ISLAMABAD - Nestled in a picturesque setting in a quiet corner of Islamabad’s Diplomatic Enclave lies one of the most sought-after private schools of the capital – Preparatory School Islamabad, commonly referred to as PSI.
Established in 1990, the school is the brainchild of Mrs. Shabnam Ashraf, a visionary educationist with decades of experience as a teacher, headmistress and principal. Initially set up as a junior school in a spacious building near Embassy Road in Islamabad’s G-6 sector, PSI’s innovative teaching system secured appreciation of the parent body right from the word ‘go.’ On parents’ demand, classes had to be upgraded every year, eventually up to O’ Levels in 2000.
The performance of PSI students in subsequent Cambridge examinations established the school’s reputation as one of the best in Islamabad.
With focus on a child-centered approach, PSI maintains a very high teacher-student ratio to ensure high academic standards. While some activities have been temporarily suspended due to the pandemic, the school has well-developed co-curricular programme, which include top-notch sports activities and elaborate stage performances. Educational trips and visits to places of interest are undertaken on a regular basis, while trips to foreign countries are also arranged periodically.
PSI’s founder, Mrs. Shabnam Ashraf has recently handed over the management of the school to her able and dedicated daughter Dr. Hadia Ashraf. The new management remains committed towards maintaining the high standards which have led to the phenomenal success of Preparatory School Islamabad.
