KARACHI-Five persons were gunned down in separate incidents in violence-hit provincial metropolis here on Sunday. A young man namely Iqbal Qareeb ,30, was found dead near Northern by-pass in Surjani police limits. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities where he was identified as Iqbal. The deceased hailed from Swat while the motive behind the killing was yet to be ascertained. The victim was shot at least four times and later his body was thrown at an isolated place. Police handed over the body to the family after autopsy while registered a case against unknown assailants. In another incident, Muhammad Shahid Khalil was killed in Liaquatabad No-5 within the limits of Liaquatabad police station. Witnesses said that the incident occurred when deceased was standing outside his residence where unidentified gunmen shot and killed him. He was shot once on his head and was immediately taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim used to work in a private security firm and left two children and a widow behind. A case was registered against unidentified culprits. A youth was gunned down near his residence in Budni Goth within the jurisdiction of Maripur police station. He was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased was later identified as Tillu Achar, 26. Police said the killing occurred due to personal enmity and police also registered case against two accused, namely Shakir and Zakir while handed over the body to the family after autopsy. A 24-year-old Feroz, son of Abdul Ghaffar was killed in Iqbal market within the jurisdiction of Pakistan Bazaar police station. Police said that the deceased was the resident of same area where unidentified culprits shot and injured him and managed to flee. Police suspected deceased was shot over resistance in a robbery bid. He was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. In Manghopir, police limits, a young man was killed in an incident of aerial firing during a wedding ceremony in Pakhtoonabad area. Police said deceased Khalid was killed in a firing incident which took place when area people resorted to aerial firing during wedding celebration. He sustained a bullet and was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile,a motorcyclist was crushed to death at Gurumandir intersection in the limits of Jamshaid Town Police Station. Police said that deceased M. Sajid Akram 18, resident of soldier Bazar was on his way to home with his friend namely Rizwan, on a motorbike bearing registration no KEZ-5138, when a speedy bus bearing registration no JA-1691 hit the motorbike. Resultantly both sustained injuries and were rushed to Civil Hospital Karachi where doctor pronounced the death of Sajid and admitted Rizwan in critical condition. They said that the accused driver managed to flee. Police impounded the vehicle while the case was yet to be registered till filing of this report. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy where the family took his body without completing legal formalities.
