A legend no more

The Legendary artist, comedian, stage actor, TV artist, play writer, singer, impersonator, host multi-dimensional person Moen Akhtar passed away on 22 April 2011 at the age of 60 due to cardiac arrest. The great comedian was decorated with Pride of Performance and Sitara-e-Imtiaz by government in recognition of his unique performance in various fields of showbiz and arts. Moen rose to fame after his performance in long play Rozy in which he played role of a female TV artist. This drama was remake of Hollywood movie Tootsie starring Dustin Hoffman. However, Moeen Akhtar surpassed Hoffman and gathered great critical acclaim. Moen was a decent person, with humble and down-to-earth attitude. He always respected seniors and guided juniors. A learned man, he knew and spoke fluently almost all languages of Pakistan. His sense of humour was loved by all. From laymen to intellectuals all liked his comedy. He never went vulgar in his comedy, a hallmark only a few could achieve. Moen was blessed with various qualities. From singing to acting, directing, producing, play writing, he excelled in all fields. Moen has left this mortal world but he will remain alive in the memories of fun lover and admirers of arts.
