Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said the government is committed to resolve all political issues through widescale consultations, besides strengthening democratic institutions at grossroots level in the country. She said that PPP led government was taking steps to usher political and economic stability in the country,saying,In this regard we have initiated consultation process. Addressing a public meeting in village Dulgikay after inaugurating a Sui gas project, she said the talks with MQM, JUI (F) and PML-Q were under way. She hoped that the outcome of these consultations would be fruitful and help discourage the practice of political blackmailing. She said that reopening of ZA Bhutto case is aimed at correcting the record of the history,adding Now it is up to the judiciary to do the needful as it is independent.People expect that whatever verdict it would give in this case it would be of historical importance,she said. The Information Minister stressed that the younger generation should be apprised of the thinking and philosophy of ZA Bhutto. Dr. Firdous alleged that Punjab government was creating obstacles in development process, and added that the construction on Women Degree College in Kuba chuk would be accomplished to facilitate students of remote areas. She said that Prime Minister Syed Yusaf Raza Gilani has lifted the bar on domestic Sui gas connections to facilitate domestic consumers, while the ban on new commercial industrial connections will stay. She urged the community to monitor the ongoing development work in NA-111 to ensure quality work. MPA Tahir Mehmood Hundli also spoke on the occasion and assured the people that new development projects would be undertaken soon in the area.
