PESHAWAR Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, said Sunday that the government must sever diplomatic ties with the US in order to make it halt drone attacks, warning that otherwise they would launch a massive movement against these strikes soon. The demand was made at the concluding session of a two-day JUI-F general council meeting held here with provincial Ameer Maulana Sheikh Amanullah. Besides members of the council from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, MNAs, MPAs and Senators also attended the meeting. In the meeting it was observed that the time had come to stand up against drone attacks, as they were threat to sovereignty of the motherland. The meeting demanded of the PPP-led government to cut ties with the US over drone attacks immediately. Talking to media, Sheikh Amanullah said the participants of the meeting severely criticised US for drone attacks in tribal areas. He said the meeting asked the Federal Government that if it wanted to stop these attacks, it should cut diplomatic ties with the US. He said the JUI-F would soon start a massive movement against the rulers, if the did not fulfilled their demand. The JUI-F would never rejoin the Federal Government again, he said. It seems that the government does not have any business other than bringing old allies back to the round, he said. He informed that the general council had decided to the party would actively take part in the general and local bodies elections and directed the workers to be ready for the purpose. He said the council asked party workers to prepare a list of aspirants wishing to contest the coming polls. Participants of the council, Sheikh Amanullah said, condemned the statement of ANP President Asfandyar Wali Khan, which he had given in India while speaking at a seminar, regarding amendment in blasphemy law. He said it hurt feelings of the people of the country. The general council condemned two suicide attacks on JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and lauded giving compensation to the families of those who had either lost their lives or sustained injuries in these attacks. He said that it strongly criticised the US priest who desecrated the Holy Quran and called upon government to take up the issue with the US administration so that to avoid such happenings in the future. Through a resolution, which was passed on the occasion, it was demanded of the Federal and Punjab Governments to tell fact about the release of Raymond Davis. Besides, he said that through another resolution, it was demanded of the ANP-led govt to ensure the establishment of Darul Qaza.
