KARACHI - Coming hard on the Punjab Chief Minister, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Sunday condemned Shahbaz Sharifs statement about creation of new provinces including Karachi in Sindh. Qaim said there was no need to create new provinces in Sindh. Talking to media persons after offering fateha for the departed soul of PML-F leader Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikhs sister at his residence, the Sindh CM said Punjab province was three times bigger than Sindh, so there was no need to create more provinces in Sindh. Shahbaz Sharif should be concerned about his province but not Sindh, he said. He also advised Shahbaz to avoid giving such statements, adding their party reflected the Federation and was true representative of Pakistan. Meanwhile, the nationalist parties of Sindh also strongly condemned the statement of the Punjab Chief Minister. TheNation Monitoring adds:?MQM and ANP said they will not accept the division of Sindh, reported a private TV channel. An MQM spokesman said that the party will support the public if it wishes to create new provinces, however, Muttahida will not let Sindh be divided under any circumstances. An ANP spokesman from Sindh said that Shahbaz Sharifs statement regarding the division of Sindh has greatly disappointed the people of this province. Meanwhile, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Awami National Party (ANP) on Sunday denounced the statement of Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif about the division of Sindh province and making Karachi a separate province. Earlier Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) would support the idea of creating new provinces in Pakistan including Karachi as a separate province. Reacting over the statement of the Punjab CM, MQM Coordination Committee member Qasim Ali Raza condemned the statement, saying that people of Karachi had never demanded a separate province. He said that establishing Hazarawal province and southern Punjab into new provinces should be considered on administrative affairs and according to the wishes of the people. He claimed that reason behind the statement of Mian Shahbaz Sharif was to divert attention of masses from the Southern Punjab province. The MQM leader further said that Sindh was stronger administratively and the MQM would not be part of any act of separation of Sindh. The coalition partner of ruling PPP in Sindh, Awami National Party (ANP), has also said that Shahbazs statement had greatly disappointed the people of the province. ANP spokesman Qadir Khan in his statement said that idea of forming Karachi a new province was continuity of exploiting smaller provinces. He further said that the CM should avoid making controversial statements.
