SHEIKHUPURA - Punjab Food Minister Ch Ghafoor has said that farmers of Punjab are reaping the benefits of farmers-friendly policies of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz and gunny bags will be distributed among the farmers without any political interference or influence. He was talking to farmers and local journalists at a wheat procurement centre in Sheikhupura here on Sunday. District Coordination Officer Abrar Ahmed Mirza, former MPA Haji Muhammad Nawaz, AC Arshid Arshad, DO Information Imran Maqbool and employees of the Food Department were also present on the occasion. Ch Ghafoor said that the Punjab government would purchase more wheat than the the federal government fixed target of 3.5 million metric tonnes. He disclosed that it was the top priority of the Punjab Chief Minister to provide relief to the general masses. Immediate payments through banks will be ensured without any delay to the farmers, the minister said. Ch Ghafoor said that any negligence on the part of officials would not be tolerated in the procurement process and stern action would be taken against such officials. Earlier, the minister met PML-N workers at the residence of MPA Ghulam Nabi.
