ISLAMABAD : The Foreign Office has stated that it is in contact with the Italian government over the arrest of suspected terrorists allegedly involved in financing and carrying out terrorist attacks in Pakistan.  In a statement on Friday, Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said “Our Embassy in Rome is in contact with the Italian government to get details, including about their nationality.”

The statement comes hours after foreign media reported that Italian police was carrying out a “vast anti-terrorism” operation against an organisation inspired by al Qaeda that wanted to support attacks against Pakistan’s govt and US forces in Afghanistan.
