LAHORE - PML-Q leader and former Interior Minister Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat has said that the PML-N and PPP came into power through a deal and the PPP ministers had crossed all the limits of corruption. He was addressing 'Meet the Press programme at the Lahore Press Club (LPC) here on Monday. LPC President Sarmad Bashir was also present on this occasion. The Q-League leader alleged that the PPP leadership had changed its slogan 'Roti Kapra aur Makan to 'Looto aur Bhago, adding that the PML-N was performing its role as friendly opposition. He said the Parliament was not in a position to do any thing on its own against Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf while the PPP and PML-N lacked interest in the same issue. He said the political parties which once were assumed as 'champions of democracy, were bent upon eliminating the local bodies system. He maintained that due to the poor policies of the present government, the democratic system was being diluted in the country. He urged the government to go for new local bodies election instead of abolishing the LG system. I managed a party ticket for (present) Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf for the by election of 1993, and if today I expose him he would be standing nowhere, Faisal claimed, adding that as he (Raja Pervez) was involved in large scale corruption, therefore the Prime Minister called him as bigger minister. Faisal said that people had lost their trust in the government as it had badly failed to provide them with a considerable relief, adding that people were suffering from crises like inflation, loadshedding, unemployment, sugar and flour shortage. He counted it a failure of the government, as it did not meet any success in arresting the assassins of Benazir Bhutto even after the lapse of 17 months.
