KARACHI - Advisor to Sindh CM, Jameel Ahmed Soomro has said that any hurdle or tampering in the Peoples government programme to provide wheat flour at Rs 10 kg would be dealt with sternly. He said Rs 2b subsidy was being given on the directives of CM Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah, as a gift to the masses in the holy month of Ramazan. In a statement issued by Media Cell, Bilawal House here on Sunday evening, Jameel Soomro said that President Asif Zardari was pursuing the vision of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and it was for the first time that heavily subsidised wheat flour is being provided to the people of Sindh to save them from the black-marketeers. He said that several committees have been constituted to monitor judicious availability of wheat flour all over the province and to control the prices and quality of the commodity. These committees have been empowered to fine such shop-keepers who indulge in malpractice, he added. The Advisor appealed to the civil society, especially the media to point out any irregularity in the programme so that swift action could be taken against any erring official or shopkeeper in this regard.
