KARACHI - The PPP government re-owned an angry gang of Lyari which is charged in thousands of murders since 2002 and assured it that rewards announced by Sindh government would be de-notified. PPP senior leaders have made the settlement after prolong negotiations with Lyari gangsters known as defunct Lyari Amman Committee (LAC). The gangsters took the shelter of APC in 2009 under the supervision of PPP former home minister Sindh Zulfiqar Mirza. Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah confirmed successful negotiations with angry Lyari Amman Committee while Abdul Qadir Patel, senior PPP leader and member of Lyari negotiating committee constituted by President Asif Ali Zardari reportedly disclosed the settlement with LAC and also assured to de-notify the rewards money of the gangsters announced in different timings during last ten years. Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, who also holds the portfolio of home department, had announced the head money on Lyari gangsters which includes Rs3 million for Noor Muhammad alias Baba Ladla, Rs2 million for Uzair Jan Baloch, chief of banned Peoples Amn Committee, Rs1m for Ibrahim Khan, Rs2m for Ilyas Papu and Rs1.5m for Rashid Rekha.  It is worth mentioning here that many of gangsters were already included in the high profile terrorist lists of security agencies (Red Book) with head moneys and charged in hundreds of murders and other criminal activities. City Police Chief Iqbal Mehmood when contacted declined to comment on the subject.  He said that Sindh Home Department had authority to notify or de-notify the reward moneys.Waqar Mehdi, advisor to chief minister while talking to TheNation said that government was trying to convince angry workers of PPP through a political process and wants to avoid confrontation while using administrative steps. In reply to a question, he said that he did not know about the decision of de-notifying reward money on the criminals elements involved in murders of over 5000 people during the gang war since 2003. Sources disclosed that PPP government welcomed the gangsters and fulfilled their demands besides paying million of rupees compensation to make them happy. The gang war claimed thousands of lives from both sides while majority of the victims were innocent inhabitants of Lyari. Dakait himself portrayed Uzair Baloch as leader of Amman Committee and give a political gesture to the gang as PPP came into power.
