KARACHI - At least six people were killed in separate acts of violence in the metropolis here on Friday. A man was killed and five others including two women were injured in separate acts of firing in Orangi Town. Police officials said the first incident occurred when two armed men riding a motorcycle opened indiscriminate firing at a butchers shop in Qasba Colony within the limits of Pirabad police station. Resultantly, a butcher, namely Sameer Mustaqeem and two others namely Gul Mira, 28 and an eight-year-old girl named Anum were injured. This incident triggered violence and armed men restored to indiscriminate firing in the locality. Resultantly, a man who yet to be identified was killed and three others were injured. A heavy contingent of law enforcers was deployed in parts of Orangi Town. A PPP worker identified as Salman Hussain, 22, son of Mian Hussain was killed within the remits of Korangi police station. Police officials said that the victim’s friend killed him with the knife during a clash. His body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.Another man identified as Abdul Qayyum, 26, son of Mir Ahmed was shot dead within the limits of Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station. Police officials said that the deceased was labourer by profession and lived in Khuda ki Basti in Surjani Town. They said that the unidentified culprits shot and killed after being kidnapped him. His body was shifted to JPMC and later handed over to his family. Similarly, a 28-year-old man, namely Raheem Buksh, son of Jumma Khan was shot dead in Khuda ki Basti within the remits of Surjani Town police station. Police officials said that at least two armed men riding a motorcycle gunned down the victim near his home in Khuda ki Basti. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital while the motive behind the incident is yet to be ascertained. A body of 26-year-old man identified as Siraj Ahmed, son of Asmat Aziz was found near from KMC workshop within the limits of Eidgah police station. Police officials said that deceased lived in Hub, Balochistan from where he arrived in Lyari locality to visit his relatives. They said that unidentified culprits after kidnapping the victim threw his body, adding that the victim was shot and tortured. His body was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi for autopsy. Police officials said that the motive behind the incident is yet to be ascertained. A 21-year-old young man was gunned down on MA Jinnah Road within the limits of Aram Bagh police station. Police officials said that the victim was shot multiple times and several marks of torture were also found in his body, however, the body was moved to morgue, Sohrab Goth for identification. Shah Latif police claimed to have arrested two men allegedly involved in extortion in the city. Police officials also claim to have recovered weapons and over Rs0.3 million of the extortion money from their possession. Their names and political affiliation were not disclosed as what the police described them the criminals. Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) also claimed to have arrested two men during a raid in Baldia Town. According to AVCC officials, the arrests were made after a raid was conducted on a tip-off, adding that one of the culprits also confessed to have killed his newly-wed wife while further investigation was underway. Two alleged criminals were apprehended during a police targeted operation in Dalmia locality within the limits of Aziz Bhatti police station on Friday. The suspects were shifted to undisclosed location for further questioning. Police officials said that police also came under attack as the culprits opened firing at the police personnel when they were trying to enter in the area, adding that fortunately, none of the policemen was killed or injured. They said that police continued to conduct search operation and apprehended two suspects along with weapons.
