Inquiry against BMP officer ordered

DERA GHAZI KHAN

The Punjab Ombudsman has ordered an inquiry against the Border Military Police (BMP) Dera Ghazi Khan commandant for allegedly confining a citizen in illegal custody.
He ordered the administration and police authorities, if approached by the complainant, deal with the matter independently in order to reach just conclusion.
The allegations of wrongful confinement of the complainant by Commandant, BMP DG Khan for two hours in his office as well as hurling of abuses to the complainant and his wife and threats to the life of the complainant seem to be quite serious which need fair and independent probe, Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mehmood remarked in the decision.
He passed the orders on the report of Member In-charge, Punjab Ombudsman for DG Khan Malik Ahmed Bakhsh Bapa in the case of complainant Ahmed Ali, a resident of Tribal Area Fort Munroo, DG Khan.
As per a copy of decision of dated August 13, 2015, the complainant had submitted an application for registration of criminal case against Commandant BMP DG Khan for “wrongfully confining” the complainant and advancing “threat of murder” to him.
