Junior winners honoured

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Deputy Director General Facilities Agha Amjedullah on late Sunday night hosted an impressive reception in honor of Pakistan U-13 football team, which managed to win gold medal in the recently-concluded Football Fiesta in Korea.
Talking to The Nation, Agha, who was also manager of Pakistan U-13 team, said: “The main aim of hosting a reception in the U-13 team was to acknowledge their services for the country. Being team manager and PSB DDG, it was my moral obligation to give due recognition to the favorite sons of the soil, who earned good name for the country at international level.” “If rules gave me permission, I could have announced cash rewards for the title winning team. I wanted to do more for the players, but my hands are tied down and in the limited resources, I could only invite these golden boys' for dinner. But I will talk to PSB DG Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera to talk to IPC minister Mian Riaz Husain Pirzada and secretary Ejaz Chaudhry to announce handsome incentives for the players. The PSB DG has already rewarded players from his own pocket while the IPC minister, I hope, will follow the same and announce awards for the boys' from his discretionary fund,” he added.
Assistant director hostels Malik Imtiaz Hussain, PDSA chairman Sheikh Abdul Waheed, former PFF information secretary Rana Tanveer Javed and others were also present there.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has also invited gold medal winning team to the ICCI today (Tuesday) for a lunch and will also present gifts and shield to it. The medal winning team’s players and officials and PSB officials will be among the guests at the ICCI building.
