Sacked principal soon to return Aitchison College

LAHORE - Dr Agha Ghazanfer, the sacked Principal of Aitchison College, is likely to retake his office next week.
The Lahore High Court, last week, ordered Agha’s restoration by suspending the orders of college’s Board of Governors (BoG). According to LHC order, Agha will be reinstated on the same post. Sources in the college told The Nation that Agha is abroad and likely to return on August 28.
Justice Mamnoon Rashid passed this interim order while hearing the petition filed by the Dr Agha Ghazanfar. The judge directed Board of Governors of Aitchison College (BoG) to submit reply on next hearing, August 30. Dr Agha Ghazanfar was sacked during a meeting of Board of Governors, which was chaired by Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana.
Sources said Dr Agha was removed from his seat for refusing admissions to scions of some influential families on kinship basis, hardly months after the noted educationist took charge of the institution for a five-year term.
Sources revealed that Dr Agha did not enjoy good relations with most of the BoG members and the headmaster of junior school. Former Punjab governor Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmud, Punjab Finance Minister Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Mustafa Ramday, Dr Sardar Ali Sadiq and Dr Parvez Hassan are members of the BoG.

Sources said that all but one member of the board supported the decision to sack Dr Ghazanfar.
