LAHORE - Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) Monday claimed to have shot dead two alleged smugglers during an armed encounter in Batapur area.

Police sources said that both the smugglers, said to be the residents of a nearby village, were trying to enter Pakistan from Indian side of the border near Wahga Border late Sunday night. Both the smugglers, identified as Shahzad, 29, and Sagheer, 30, were killed during crossfire. The Rangers personnel also seized 48 bottles of liquor from their possession. The bodies were moved to the morgue fro autopsy. Further investigations were underway.
