LAHORE - A special customs court yesterday sent a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) airhostess Nuzhat Bukhari to jail on judicial remand on charges of attempting to smuggle a larger quantity of gold to the United States of America.
Judge Chaudhary Muhammad Ameer Khan passed the order after Custom police produced the suspect in the court. The officials told the judge that the suspect had accepted the charges.
At this, the court sent her to jail on 14-day judicial remand with directions to police to submit challan of the case by the next hearing.
On Tuesday, Anti-Narcotics Force arrested senior Airhostess of Pakistan International Airlines from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport in connection with an attempt to smuggle of gold to the USA.
The ANF officials booked Nuzhat Bukhari against two kilogrammes (1995 grams) of gold that was recovered from her luggage during a routine search at the airport. The suspect had confessed that she was trying to smuggle gold from Lahore to New York via PIA flight PK-721.
Later, ANF officials handed over said accused to Customs officials.
