QUETTA - A police constable was killed when unidentified persons opened fire in the Sariab area of the provincial capital yesterday night.

The assailants, riding a motorcycle, opened indiscriminate fire at Constable Abdul Kareem at Laur Karez on Sariab Road within the jurisdiction of Satellite Town police station, leaving him critically injured. He succumbed to his injuries on his way to hospital.

FC arrests 72 deported labourers

INP adds: The Frontier Corps (FC) arrested 72 Pakistani labourers deported by Afghan Authorities in Chaman on Wednesday.

Security sources said that all of the deported Pakistani labourers have gone to Afghanistan through legal visas having work permit to work abroad. The deported labourers were working in Kandahar and Spin Boldak to earn livelihood for families back at home.

The nabbed labourers alleged that they were detained and tortured by Afghan authorities before deporting.

Security officials said that reasons behind the deportation of the labourers have not been ascertained and investigation in this connection was underway.
