ISLAMABAD - The National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) yesterday inaugurated first Cloud-based National Data Centre for the government and public sector entities.
According to NTC, it will be the first Cloud-based National Data Centre which is meant to assist the government entities to host their data and applications in a secure environment. This National Data Centre (NDC) is a state-of-the-art modular, scalable and highly secure.
Addressing the participants of inaugural ceremony, Minister of State for IT Anusha Rehman said that establishment of National Data Centre is a step towards achievement of accelerated digitisation.
Chairman NTC Brig (Retd) Viqar Rashid Khan apprised the audience that NTC has made record growth and expansion in the development of its network and infrastructure during last two years as it has expanded from 54 districts in 2013 to 84 cities in 2016. He said corporation turned its budgetary loss by earning net profit before taxation of Rs257 million, showing a total recovery of Rs356 million after adjustment of budgeted loss, thus making total financial recovery of 359 per cent during FY 2015-16 which is a record performance in the public sector.
